Sustainability at urban Aran
At Urban Aran, we take pride in crafting vibrant and innovative knitwear that not only embraces creativity but also champions sustainability. Our commitment to the environment is reflected in our choice of materials, and we exclusively use Pure Fine Merino Wool sourced from Italy.
Our merino wool is 100% natural. Merino is natures wonder fibre, and over the past few years, more and more people are becoming aware of the special benefits of merino.
Merino fabric is super light and breathable, and it adapts to your body temperature, making sure you are comfortable in all seasons.
Eco-Friendly Fibers
Urban Aran's knitwear is crafted from biodegradable Pure Fine Merino Wool. Merino is 100% biodegradable and it contains no microplastics.
Unlike synthetic materials, it decomposes over time with no environmental impact.
Minimal Washing
Merino wool contains natural antibacterial agents that help inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria. This is particularly beneficial in preventing the development of unpleasant smells, even with prolonged wear and reduce the need for frequent washing, conserving precious water resources (and your energy bill).
Traceability
Traceability in Merino wool is a key aspect of ethical and sustainable sourcing. Our products are all Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) and Animal Welfare Standard (AWS) certified, this guarantee the highest standards in wool production, emphasizing ethical practices and the well-being of animals.
Made in Ireland
Our designs are crafted and designed in Ireland, reflecting our commitment to sustainability. All our products are shipped using AnPost and DPD, with a priority on utilizing electric vehicles.
Animal Welfare
Committed to ethical sourcing, we proudly support the SustainaWool initiative, ensuring our Merino wool is Mulesing-free, an approach to Merino wool production, ensuring the well-being of sheep by abstaining from the practice of mulesing, and sourced with a deep commitment to animal welfare.
Fully Fashioned Pieces
"Fully fashioned" refers to a method of garment construction where each piece is individually shaped and knit to its final form. This technique contrasts with cut-and-sew methods where fabric is cut from larger pieces and then sewn together. This means there is minimal waste during our production.
Durability
Pure fine Merino wool stands out for its exceptional durability. The natural elasticity of Merino wool fibers ensure garments maintain their shape and withstand repeated stretching without compromising on strength. Proper care further enhances its longevity, making pure fine Merino wool a premium choice for those seeking both comfort and enduring quality in their garments.
